Every time I pass this poster I do a double take. How is this allowed to hang in the dorms? But then I see that between the ‘I ♥’ and the ‘SEX, it says consensual. That’s where I have to hand it to whoever designed the poster. It is unbelievably attention grabbing. Ignoring the fact that it is bright red for a second, it says ‘I ♥ SEX’ in enormous letter. I mean who isn’t going to look at that?

But then again, until now I haven’t actually taken the time to read the rest of the poster. So maybe it isn’t as effective as it could be. Although it grabs the viewer’s attention, it doesn’t really do anything to keep it. The poster doesn’t get to the point quickly enough, there are simply too many words. Unless someone stops to read it, the poster does not make any lasting impressions. That is its one major flaw.

The poster is carrying an extremely important message as well as some very important information, but the thing that stands out the most is the ‘I ♥ SEX’. I know that is supposed to be what draws in the reader, but I feel like I never have time to stop and read the posters in the hallway so the only thing I ever see is the ‘I ♥ SEX’ part. Although the poster is quite effective in terms of attention grabbing, it is a lot less effective at keeping that attention. Essentially, it does half of its job very well and the other half not so well. The design could definitely be improved but it is very creative and entertaining so I can’t fault it too much. Props to the designer.
